How old are OLDER Bikers Riding Club Members?

I have been asking this question ever since I joined this club and never got a straight answer, basically because the answer is always changing.

So, I finally got our webmaster to send me a "spread sheet" containing the dates of birth for all of our members. There were no names or locations on this spreadsheet, so I don't know what the average age is for each state, but I was able to find out some interesting facts.

As of May 5th, 2009, our oldest member is in his mid 70's and our youngest member is in his 30's.

The most common ages are:
1: 50 yrs old
2: 59 yrs old
Third place through 8th place are tied.
3: 63 yrs old
4: 61 yrs old
5: 60 yrs old
6: 57 yrs old
7: 56 yrs old
8: 55 yrs old

Since these numbers will change on a regular basis, I will try to update this post at least once a month and possibly more often.

I am the Youngest member of the Older Bikers Riding Club!!
I remember about two weeks ago we were at the lookout in Southern Indiana and I had an older man walk up to me and say "Can I see your ID, I don't believe your old enough to be in that club." I turned and told him "You only have to be old enough to stay out of jail." Therefore the term Older Bikers Riding Club is not so much about age as it is about Maturity. So hence to all the questions about "How old do you have to be to be in the Older Bikers Riding Club?" It is not an age factor but rather a maturity factor.

It's been around 9 months since stats have been posted on this site, so I decided to update some of them.

Our oldest members are in their 70's and were born between 1935 and 1939.

We have more members born in 1959 then any other single year, making them 51 years old in 2010.

The second most popular year for births of our members was 1954, making them 56 years old in 2010

Births in 1951 and 1949 were tied for third place, making them 59 years old and 61 years old in 2010.

I also checked the number of members we have per state and found the following states are the top five.

Kentucky has the largest number of members, followed by:
Indiana with the next largest number,
Georgia is in third place followed by
Texas in 4th place and
South Carolina in 5th place.

Many of us are expecting a LARGE increase in membership this coming spring, so hopefully as the season progresses, we will be able to update this data and thereby encourage non members from some of the states where we have a larger concentration of members, to join us and find others to ride with.
