It is with regret that I have to announce the passing of Robert Oberst, one of our members from Tennessee.

He had been undergoing treatment for kidney failure and a type of Cancer called Multiple Myeloma.

He was one of our younger members, only in his 50's but was lucky enough to enjoy 38 of those years riding motorcycles.

He will be missed and we send our condolences to his wife and family for their loss.

FTW

I know we don't like to think or talk about it, but the reality of us being "Older" bikers means we have to face the sad reality that our members will be dying off and therefore I feel that we should start planning various procedures we will be utilizing.

For example, for security reasons, we will not be posting certain information about the surviving spouse or family members such as their home addresses, email addresses or phone numbers on our website. Instead, whenever a death occurs among our members, we will send out a mailing to all of our members that have Internet access and encourage them to send all cards and donations to: (we will enter the name of the spouse or family member here) in care of (c/o) Older Bikers RC at our postal mailing address, and we will deliver them to the family members.

In each case, we will be encouraging our members to offer some type of donation and/or support to the family members, simply because we all know that some day our time will come and we would want the other members to be there for the family we leave behind.

In special cases where the member passing away leaves an extra heavy financial burden on their family as a result of not having life insurance or huge unpaid medical bills, we will be organizing some type of "charity runs" to raise funds for the family.

If anyone else has any suggestions or ideas, please share them. Also, if any member has a special request such as donations being made to some organization or cause instead of their spouse or family when they pass away, please contact me and let me know so that I can enter that info in your file.

Thank You
FTW
