Bikers helping bikers?
Would you help an Older Biker in trouble?
If you saw a big motorcycle laying on the ground in a gas station or restaurant parking lot and the owner was having trouble picking it up, would you stop to help?
If you saw a motorcycle broken down in front of your house, would you offer to help the owner?
If you met a biker inside a gas station or restaurant and discovered they were too sick to ride their bike home, would you offer to drive them home or transport their bike home for them?
While on a recent ride with a group of Older Bikers, one of our members became so sick, it was obvious he would not be able to continue the ride. He was not sick enough to require emergency medical attention. He simply needed a place to rest for an hour or more, until his health improved. Fortunately, he had relatives living in the little town we in, so he was able to stay at their home until his health improved enough for him to return home.
Last month, while on a ride, one of our members broke a drive belt on his bike. He was around 150 miles from his home at the time. Luckily, he was on a group ride at the time, so other club members that lived closer to the town where he broke down, were able to assist by returning home to pick up a trailer, so they could haul the stranded bike and the Older Biker to a repair shop.
The fact is that as Older Bikers, as long as we are out RIDING and away from home, there will be times that LIFE will happen and we will need some type of help. Therefore we are currently compiling a list of bikers around the country that would be willing to help other bikers in need.
This list will contain a persons first name, cell phone number, email address and the town they live in. The information on this list will be held in strict confidence and only accessible by 2 people, one on a state level and one on a national level, however it could possibly save the life of an Older Biker.
All members of the Older Bikers Riding Club agree to help other Older Bikers, as part of their membership, therefore their phone numbers are automatically added to this list and in return, they already have the phone number of our National Webmaster, so they can call him for help whenever it is needed. However since we have a large number of website users that are not members of the Older Bikers Riding Club, we are currently asking every user of our website if you would be willing to help a stranded or sick Older Biker? If the answer is yes, would you please send us an email containing your first name, cell phone number and the name of the town and state where you live?
We hope none of our members will ever need help while in your town, but just in case they do, we want to thank you in advance for offering to help other bikers.
