Why You Should Ride With A Club
Why You Should Ride With A Club
Cars WILL turn in front of a motorcycle.
Drivers are in a hurry, they don't see you, or they just don't care about you. Regardless of the reason whey they turn in front of you, the fact is that I as well as many of my brothers have laid down our scooters in order to avoid hitting a car broadside. By riding with a group of bikers, you greatly reduce the risk of having cars pull out or turn in front of you.Greater Security against theft.
Your bike, your leathers, your helmet, all of your personal belongings are valuable to you. When you are parked outside a motel room, in a campgrounds or in front of a restaurant, no matter what type of security system you have, nothing works quite as well as having an entire group of bikers keeping an eye on anyone that gets close to their bikes. Breakdowns.
Nothing ruins a nice trip on your bike like being stranded miles away from home. I can not speak for all clubs here, but the Older Bikers Riding Club has a policy that if one of our members breaks down while we are on a ride, we will NOT leave them behind. If we can not help them get their bike up and running, we will make sure a crash truck picks their bike up, so they can either continue the run in the crash truck or return home with their bike.
Members of the Older Bikers Riding Club become closer then some biological families. In addition to helping each work on bikes or with other problems that arise, we also help out of town members. Whenever members from one chapter of the Older Bikers Riding Club are traveling through an area where another chapter exists, the local chapter will welcome the visiting members with open arms, providing them with food, lodging, guided tours or anything else wanted or needed.
Why you ride and the type of riding you do, will have a major impact on your decision to join a club or not. Since I am not involved with hill climbing, races, or moto-cross, I can not speak to those types of riders. However if you ride a cruiser and like traveling down the highway on your bike, then I will be happy to let you know why I choose to ride with a club.
